Artist's Comments
I took this picture yesterday
It was an extremely windy day and a whole bunch of fires had broken out around where I live, so there was a blanket of smoke covering the horizon. It turned the sunset so red and dim that you could look at it without even having to squint. 2 blended exposures Comments
Awesome!

I think this is down to the rocks in the front- for a sunset shot so dark and deep and fading, they look very well lit, and thus dont logically seem to fit so well in the photograph in my opinion. They look like they've been lit from above almost, when the light is clearly behind more than anything, and the fact that they dont have that much of a pinkish glow on them makes them stick out a lot in the photo, in an unnatural way... I'm not sure if this is because some sort of flash was used, or if it's just from the second exposure, or if maybe that is just how it looked?! but yeah, the individual sections of the photograph look STUNNING, they just dont really piece so great together in my eyes.
I think if I were to approach this on PS what I'd do to settle them in more is maybe darken the foreground a little, so that it conveys the same eerie, mysterious feel as the setting sun.
However, what I adore about this shot is the smokey haze to the sky from the fires, and how that's echoed in the murky water at the front- beautiful!
Hope you find this helpful and not insulting. I'm a huge fan of your work as you know, and this is a very beautiful shot! And apologies for any lack of eloquence, it's nearly 10am here and I haven't slept yet...!
just stunning!
This is a photo that feels like it is impossible to take and little unreal but at the same time it has a spark of reality that makes it very beautiful.
The vision is breath taking, it really is something different. It takes you to a new place.
For Originality, even though there are alot of pictures of the beach this one still blows you away because of how it was taken.
The technique deserves a round of apluas for such a great angle it was taken how it has the beach the rocks and such a beautiful sun all in one photo.
The impact is very amazing. It makes you want to go to where ever it is so badly because it looks like perfection.
This realy is a picture you would love to have hanging up in the living room!
